WHO WE ARE
Tanzania Men as Equal Partners in Development (TMEPiD) is a local NGO promoting male involvement and participation in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRH&R); maternal and child health; as well as promoting gender equality in social and economic development activities. The organization was first registered in 2006 as branch of an international NGO known as The Swedish Association for Sexuality Education (RFSU) in Tanzania; transformed and registered as a local NGO known as TMEPiD, in 2015. TMEPiD is UNFPA and Advance Family Planning implementing partner. Also, is a member of National NGOs Forum; Tanzanian Coalition for Demographic Awareness and Action (TCDAA) and Men Engage Networks.
The organization is led by a governance board comprising female and male with professional background in the fields of Policy Advocacy; Research and Evaluations and Youth Social – Economic development. The organization operates through a team of experts in the areas of SRHR; Gender; Masculinity; Male involvement; PMTCT; Antenatal Care; Advocacy and communication; M&E and Finance management. The organization has 7 fulltime staff (3 women and 4 men) and 8 sessional staffs covering areas of project management specialists; Advocacy experts; Trainer of Trainers in Gender oriented SRHR; Documentation and Dissemination; M&E and Research; SRHR, Adolescent SRHR; Financial Management and drivers.
Male involvement in SRH; Maternal and Neonatal Health and Gender promotion are our niche. We are rich with experience and knowledge and methods that promote community engagement in gender and male involvement in very specific and SRH and rights promotion.
We have worked in an effective partnership with The Reproductive and Child Health Section of the Ministry of Health and local governments. Internationally, we work in good partnership with RFSU.
HISTORY

Family Planning constitutes a core preventive intervention that has the potential to improve maternal, infant, and child health through spacing births, therefore averting unplanned pregnancies and preventable birth-related complications. Family planning saves costs that individuals, families and nations incur in providing health services especially to women in the reproductive age (15-49 yrs), and children. Generally, every dollar spent on family planning saves $4, and reduces overall health costs and re-investing the savings to improve other services.
